One of our Scouts came to help put up the tents
He also brought his camp blanket and ran the camp fire for us
He also came Sunday morning to help clear away the tents.
The BS thought he was wonderful - and so did we!
We had 8 boys and 4 girls - so our large hall was divided into 2 areas by a row of chairs - the BS slept in dome tents. The girls in a 4 man, the boys in one 4 man and 2 x 2 man tents.
There are toilets at each end of the hall and a male leader slept in separate room at one end, with the female leaders at the other end in an adjoining room.
Beacuse it was summer we had hoped to be outside and planned a walk around Marton Mere - this was changed on the day to Stanley Park because rain threatened and Stanley park has more shelter.
During the evening we played rounders at the local park - hoping to tire them out as much as possible.
Out weekly meetings are very organised and run on themes - so we deliberately tried to run the Sleepover with more flexibility - more relaxed and gave the BS much more choice in the activities they did.
Although we planned the activities in advance we did not stick to the plan absolutely.
We ordered mini bus taxis to get to Stanley park and back - but they took a long time arriving - I would pre-book another time.
The BS were all asleep by 12.30 - which I thought was brilliant. I'm sure the fact that they were in tents made it easier for them to get to sleep - as well as being exciting for them.
We had several nose bleeds to deal with - one very bad one - in the early hours, but on the whole everyone loved it - especially the BSs.
We will do it again.
