The sleepover was originally planned as a group event. But the Cub section had to drop out as the District Swimming Gala was on the 13th so rather than disappoint the Beaver Scouts we went ahead with the Scout section (quite a linking exercise).

We had 9 scouts, 9 beavers and 1 recently swum up to cubs ex Beaver, who was determined to come on the sleepover.

The scouts were brilliant with the Beaver Scouts to say there is such a difference in age. Each Scout held a Beaver Scouts hand as we walked into town to the Bowling Alley, once there they helped the Beavers Bowl. The friendship shown to the Beavers was a credit to them.

Before the sleepover we discussed with the Beaver Scouts what food they liked and from that came up with the menu.

We chatted about what they would like to do at the sleepover, hence the TV and football match, bingo and box games session.

We enjoyed the visit to Stanley Park and also feed the squirrels and ducks.

The best-behaved Beaver Scouts would be selected Sunday morning to carry the flag with 2 escorts.

The Beaver Scouts had all made crosses with a poppy on to take to the service. Each member of the congregation had to bring their favourite cuddly toy as part of the service was a chat about the toys, which kept the interest of the BS.

This worked in well with our sleepover as each beaver scout was asked to bring his favourite cuddly toy to the sleepover for bedtime.

The favourite bit for the Beaver Scouts was the actual going to bed – but not sleeping. Just like first night at Cub Camp.

By 1.30 we could finally go to bed ourselves as all were at long last asleep.

Was that voices I heard at 7am?

With the sleepover we managed to complete 1 challenge badge and start 2 more.

With the Church Hall having so many rooms it was ideal for sleeping arrangements.

With Beaver Scouts all in an upstairs room.

Lady Leaders next door.

Scouts Downstairs in the Cub room and Men Leaders in the Beaver Hall.

Excellent time was had by all, we hope to do it again but with the entire group.
