Noah and the Rainbow

In the Bible it tells us that a long, long time ago the world had gone wrong. People were doing horrible things. So God decided to start the world again.

God found a good man called Noah and told him how to make a huge boat. Noah made the boat with a lot of banging, hammering, chopping and sawing. God asked Noah to put two of every animal and bird into the boat. They had to bring lots and lots of food! Noah and all his family got in the boat too, and the door was shut.

It started to rain. It rained so much that the boat floated away. After lots of days the rain stopped. The sun dried the land and everyone was able to come out of the boat.

God put a rainbow in the sky. He told Noah it was to show his promise to everyone. God promised not to flood the world with water again. Noah looked up at the rainbow. He saw the big black rain clouds moving away and the sun shining brightly again. When Noah looked at the beautiful bright shining colours of the rainbow - he felt happy. He knew God would keep his promise.
