Game: Lily Pad relay |
Lodges stand in relay formation. Each lodge is given a circle of paper (one less than the number of BS in the lodge). They have to make their way to the other end of the room using the circles as stepping stones. |

Craft: Frog catchers |
The BS all have a small paper plate. They colour the underside green and the top side pink. Then fold the plate in ½ and add ‘googly’ eyes (or circles of white paper instead). The BS then stamp out a butterfly (if you don’t have a rubber stamp to do this draw one for each child). Colour it in and cut it out. Then attach to a piece of wool and stick into the frogs mouth. See who can make their frog catch the butterfly! |

Usual relay rules. The BS have to hop like frogs up and down the rule. You could repeat with the BS hopping in different ways. |

Story: The Wide Mouthed Frog |
This is a short version and you can fill it out as you tell it. Make it into an action story with the BS making the animal noises. The wide mouthed frog lived in England. He decided one day to leave his pond and see the world. He met a large, four-legged black and white animal with two horns, and said "Hello, what are you, and what do you eat?" "I'm a cow, and I eat grass" The wide-mouthed frog then came to a black bird with sharp talons and a curved beak. "Hello, what are you etc." "I'm an crow, and I eat little birds and mice" Next another large four-legged creature, standing on four legs, with a loud bark. "Hello, what are you etc." "I'm a bear, and I eat bones" The wide-mouthed frog reached a river, and here was a long green slimy thing with huge jaws. "Hello, what are you etc." "I'm an alligator and I eat wide-mouthed frogs. Have you seen any?" The wide mouthed frog's mouth suddenly became very small, and he hurried back to his pond as fast as he could go. The moral of this story is that there are times when it pays to keep quiet |
