Paul’s
Shipwreck
Long ago
a man named Paul went on a long and exciting journey by ship. In those days
ships didn’t have engines they had big sails that helped the wind to push the
ship along. Some soldiers went with Paul (Beaver
Scouts - march like soldiers).
At first
the journey was fine, but then the wind began to blow (Beaver Scouts - make a noise like the wind)
The ship
began to move faster, the wind got stronger and stronger and the waves got
higher and higher (Beaver Scouts - make
big wave shapes with hands).
It was a
bad storm! The sailors couldn’t steer the ship. It just rocked about on the
waves. (Beaver Scouts - rock like a ship
in a strong sea).
The
captain was worried that the ship would sink, so he told the sailors how to make
the boat ligher by throwing out some of the cargo. Boxes of clothes, packets of
food, tools and other things that the ship was carrying want overboard into the
sea (Beaver Scouts - pretend to throw
things over the side of the rocking boat).
The wind
kept blowing and the sky was so dark that the sailor’s couldn’t see the sun
in the daytime or the stars at night. They didn’t know which way they were
going (Beaver Scouts - shade eyes with
hands and look for the stars in the sky).
They were
lost! Everyone began to be very frightened (Beaver
Scouts - look scared)
But Paul
said to them “Don’t worry! Last night God sent an angel to me with a
message. Everyone will be kept safe, but we will be shipwrecked on an island.”
And it happened just as Paul said - the ship they were travelling in was
wrecked. The front hit a sandbank and the back of the ship was broken by the
heavy waves. The soldiers told everyone who could swim to jump into the sea and
swim away before the ship sank completely (Beaver
Scouts - pretend to jump into the sea and swim).
Those who
couldn’t swim grabbed pieces of wood and used them to float to the beach.
Everyone reached the beach safely! God had taken care of Paul and his friends
and all of the people on the ship with him.
