Story |
|
|
Our story this week is about a man called Moses (some of you may have heard of him). Anyway Moses was leading some Israelite people from Egypt to a new land that had been promised to them by God. On the way to the new land they had to go through the desert. It is a big desert and it was taking them a long, long time. You are now going to pretend to be people living in a desert and when I say “They said” or “He said” - I want you to say “We’re hungry, we’re very hungry. What are you going to do” |
|
|
Moses was leading God’s people through the desert (stand up, walk on the spot, making swish, swish noises as walking through the sand)
The people were not happy (all look sad)
They said “We’re hungry, we’re very hungry. What are you going to do” (all sit down)
Moses said to them “Don’t complain. God will give us what we need”. Moses then went to talk to God and he said “We’re hungry, we’re very hungry. What are you going to do” God told Moses. “The people don’t need to complain. I will give them what they need”.
In the evening, the people found meat on the ground and cooked it for supper. In the morning they found flaky white stuff on the ground that people called manna. They gathered it up and baked it. There was plenty for everyone to eat. It was yummy and tasted just like honey. God had given them what they needed. Moses carried on leading the people through the desert (stand up, walk on the spot, making swish, swish noises as walking through the sand)
But the people were not happy (change response to thirsty) They said “We’re thirsty, we’re very thirsty. What are you going to do” (all sit down)
Moses said to them “Don’t complain. God will give us what we need”. Moses then went to talk to God and he said “We’re thirsty, we’re very thirsty. What are you going to do”
God told Moses. “The people don’t need to complain. I will give them what they need
Moses led everyone to a rocky place. He took his walking stick and hit a rock. Out gushed clean, fresh, cool water. There was plenty for everyone. God had given his people what they needed again!
