The Sun’s Day

Every morning God wakes up the Sun that he made. The Sun gets up slowly and as it does, it sees the farmer milk8ing his cows. The birds wake up and sing a beautiful song and the Sun can see the postman delivering all the letters and the doctor and nurse coming home from working all night at the hospital. The sun sees people opening shops and others going to work, some on the train, come on the bus, some in cars or on bikes and some walking. There’s even an aeroplane flying up above the clouds, which is shining brightly in the sun’s rays.

Then the Sun hears a new noise. Its children going to school, to nursery or to playgroup. The sun shines warmly on the children. Everyone feels happier when the sun shines ion the morning.

There’s a lady out in her garden hanging out the washing whilst the children are splashing in the paddling pool. There is a little girl and her Daddy choosing flowers for Gran, and a little boy and his Mum taking their pet dog for a walk. A cat is curled up having a sleep and a man and lady are carrying home their heavy bags of shopping. The Sun looks down and sees it all.

Later on the Sun sees the children coming home from school and then the adults after work. The Sun shines in through the windows and sees then eating their meals and then the curtains are pulled shut across the windows as the child go to bed.

The Sun is feeling tired too and starts to go down. As it does, it send lovely streaks of colour across the sky - a beautiful orangey-red sunset. The birds see it and sing another special song before they go to sleep. They finish just as the sun leaves the sky. Another day is over - another comes tomorrow!

Elijah

‘I hate rain’ said Danny, with his nose to the window.

‘I like rain!’ said his Granddad.

‘Why?’ asked Danny looking surprised.

‘Because rain fills the rivers, so that we have water to drink’ Granddad explained. ‘Rain falls on the farmer’s fields and makes the crops grow, so that we can have food to eat. And rain makes the grass grow, so the cows can eat and they can make milk and cheese and yogurt for us’.

Long ago, Gold told the king that there would be no rain for 3 years. It was a sad time. The grass and vegetables died because there was no rain. And the sheep and goats couldn’t make milk because they didn’t have grass to eat. All the people were hungry and thirsty. Then, one day, god sent his special messenger, Elijah, to tell the king that the rain would come soon. And it did start to rain! And then it rained and it rained and it rained!
