PROJECT PROGRAMME
Here
are some programme ideas from the 7th Blackpool Colony
Each
meeting has an opening ceremony and we nearly always close with a prayer that is
relevant to the theme of the evening.
WEEK
1
Chinese
New Year
|
Made
Chinese Dragons/Played Chinese Whispers
I
brought in 2 flavours of rice and instead of eating with forks we chose
prawn crackers. This went down VERY WELL as lot of the boys had never even
tried this food and in the end when we had run out they were crying for
more. |

WEEK
2 Music
Night |
Made
musical instruments out of yoghurt pots/combs. Elaine
had bought some instruments and we put on a tape for them to play with to
the music. Action tape song– The boys enjoyed this. |

WEEK
3 Valentines
Night |
Cross-between
love hearts and the body heart. Did
circuit training using skipping ropes, hoops, sat still etc.
Made Valentines biscuits. Made a game up of going to corners
hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades. This
game taught the boys the suits of a pack of cards, which many had not
seen. Those that were aware helped the others. Made
Valentines Biscuits- Tea biscuit, icing and liquorice shoe lace-loved it! |

4 Weather |
We
talked about the types of weather/brought in books to show pictures of
clouds, rivers and how they were formed etc.
Made a weather clock from a paper plate.

WEEK
5 Cold
Climate |
The
theme was about cold places. Did
exercises to get warm. Played
a game about the winter and summer giving phrases on whether they were
true or false and ran to different corners – the boys personalities came
through with their quirky comments. Dressing
up game hats, scarves and had to try to eat with a knife and folk with
gloves on. |

a snow scene collage Snowman –snow-cotton wool, card and glitter etc

WEEK
7 Toys |
Boys
brought in their own toys. Problem
was that Game Boy games were being swapped but not given back at the end
and other boys that did not have these became a little jealous and boys do
not always share. Many forgot
their toys but we have a stock. |
WEEK
8
Easter
|
Made
Easter Bonnet Biscuits- digestive biscuit, icing 2 colours, sugar flowers,
marshmallows and 100’s and 1000’s.
Boys
designed 2 biscuits any way they wished.
Enjoyed
this, as they did not have to copy my design.
Made
a bunny holder for chocolate egg to sit in.

WEEK
9
|
These
next two weeks Elaine was away and Anne Clayton came to help.
I planned the nights myself.
Opening
to introduce Anne and new boys that had joined. Boys put into two groups.
Table
one made flower biscuits – digestive icing/sweet decorations 100’s
1000’s. Table two made a park picture using old catalogues/coloured paper/straws etc. We then made a drink and put out the benches so they could have a type of picnic in the park |

10 |
Tonight
was a get to know each other Learning
to play together. Different bases: -
Play
dough Favourite base. Colour
in Elma Hedgehog. Most of the
boys coloured it brown. Games
egg and spoon/table tennis Ran wild round the room playing the games. Word
search Only a hand full did this and realized that it must be like working
at school and as they were not forced to do it these easily walked past. If
I did this again I think that it may have to be a bit more structured as I
think they thought they had the run of the room. They seemed to have had a
good night. |
